From Passengers to Drivers: Parent perceptions about how adolescents learn to drive
"A study published in the Journal of Adolescent Research found that although parents can describe basic concepts their teen drivers need to master such as “paying attention” and “parking the car,” they tend not to mention specific driving skills needed to avoid crashing, such as scanning and speed management."

Traffic violations in the first two years of driving in a graduated licensing system
Highlights
• A descriptive epidemiological study comparing driver education and certification log cohorts. (151,880 teens, 48.6% girls, 51.4% boys)
• Teens in the driver education cohort had significantly fewer crashes and injury or fatal crashes.
• Teens in the driver education cohort had significantly fewer traffic and alcohol-related violations.
• Teens in the log cohort had higher odds of crashes and violations controlling for demographics.
• Driver education appears to reduce crashes and violations in a graduated licensing environment.
